Way back in 15th Century, Qutb Quli shah raised a historic monument, Charminar, and it was fulfillment of a vow due to plague that wiped thousands of innocent people living in Golconda. While plague was rampant, the kingdom was shifted out from fort and it was relocated at a place where Charminar is now seen.
The name sprouted for its four minars and importantly, a space for at least 75 members to perform prayers was created.
